Privacy policy

This site has one job: run a calculator on your loan numbers and give you a verdict. That job requires very little information about you, and this policy is short because there is not much to say.

What the calculator does with your numbers

The balance, rate, remaining term, repayment frequency and switching costs you type into the calculator are processed in your own browser. They are used to compute the result you see on the screen. They are not sent to us, not stored on a server by us, and not used to build a profile of you.

The one exception is deliberate: the calculator saves your last set of inputs to your browser's local storage, so that if you come back to the page your numbers are still there. That data stays in your browser. Clearing your browser storage removes it.

When you send your result to a broker

If you choose to send your calculator result for a free review, the numbers and the result travel with that request to our chat service and on to the licensed mortgage broker who reviews them. They will use them to review your situation and may keep them as part of their own record-keeping, in line with their privacy policy and Australian privacy law.

Sending your result is optional. Nothing on this site contacts a broker unless you press the button.

What we log

Like almost every website, our hosting and security logs may record technical information such as IP address, browser type, requested pages and timestamps. This is used to keep the site running and secure. We do not use it to identify you or to build a marketing profile.

Cookies

This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. The only storage it uses is the browser's local storage for your calculator inputs, described above, and any storage the chat service sets when you open a conversation.

Third parties

• Our chat service — handles conversations when you open one.
• The licensed mortgage broker — receives your calculator result only if you choose to send it.
• Links to other sites — we link to the Reserve Bank of Australia, ASIC and Moneysmart. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their privacy practices.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with lenders for marketing.

Your choices

• Clear your browser's local storage at any time to remove your saved calculator inputs.
• Close a conversation at any time; you do not have to send your result in order to use the calculator.
• Ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing the address below.
